9 Months

Emma you are 9 months old!

You weigh almost 24 pounds. I still haven't ever measured you so I'm not sure how long you are.

You wear a range of clothing, from 6 months up to 12-18 months, just depends on the brand. You also wear size 2 shoe but can get away with size 3 if we need to.

You wear size 4 diaper.

You're still nursing a bunch and also eating solids. I'm lightening up on some of the actual table foods that you've tried, so this month you've had small tastes of cake, cupcake, breads, ice cream and frozen yogurt. You know, the essential stuff. You still love your Mum Mums and have also really liked mango.

Your sleeping has been getting better. Instead of being up 3-4 times a night, now you're down to 1-2, mainly twice.

And...........

You're sleeping in your crib! The first night in there was on January 10th. You've slept every night in there since! (Okay, maybe not every night.) You joined me in the spare bedroom a couple (okay maybe a few) nights in the first 2 weeks. But since then you've done great! In fact, most nights I just put you up there and you fall asleep on your own. You'll still let us rock you, but most of the time you go right to sleep.

You're also taking really good naps in your crib. You definitely need 2 naps a day, and sometimes 3, depending on how early your first nap was. They're usually an hour, but sometimes 1.5 and rarely 2 hours.

You've had lots of fun playing with all your friends this month at various playdates! We've had social gatherings, playdates at the park and a playdate at a local church. The church is actually really neat because they have 2 different indoor playgrounds (for different ages) and it's open to the public for free during the week. I definitely see us going back there, especially when you're a little older.

You've developed a move that I like to call the "inch worm." When you're on your tummy you'll raise your backside in the air and simultaneously push yourself back with your arms. Your Daddy says you look like a frog! It's pretty funny to watch and sometimes you'll do it really quick if you're trying to get somewhere you're not supposed to. Standing has been much better this month and you can stand for several minutes at a time. You're really good about falling on your booty, so we haven't had any major crashes. You're still not pulling to stand, but you get to your knees about halfway. One of your legs always gets stuck. I'd be more worried if you weren't such a roly poly! As long as you're moving, I'm not worried.

You love to talk and make noise! You say "mama" and "dada" and every sound in between! A lot of times you start to say "nana" at night when you're sleepy, so I just pretend that you're saying "night night."

The other cute thing you've started to do is shake your head "no." You almost always copy us after we do it and sometimes your timing is so perfect! For example, if we ask if you're ready for bed, sometimes you'll start shaking your head real fast with a cute smile on your face! You're also starting to understand "no." Not that we have to tell you often, but you do like to play with the speaker on the bottom shelf of the entertainment center!

You've gotten really busy this month and are so curious about everything! If you see something new you go for it! You still love paper and taking things out of containers or purses. I just love your little personality!

Developmentally you're still doing great! Just like last month, you're above in all areas except physical. You're just one month behind in that area, but no worries!

You amaze us every day! You're just perfect!
